Product development is a question of seeing the products through the eyes of the customer. At an early stage, Newbeam began to cooperate with companies in a number of potential marketing spheres to acquire access to business knowledge for the development of products which add new quality advantages. Our customers want to avoid being isolated with technical solutions which are not compatible with other products, when they must nevertheless assert themselves in a result-oriented era. For this reason, Newbeam focuses just as much on the future context of the products as on the products themselves.

From the marketing opportunities which exist, Newbeam has chosen to divide the market into three principal sectors; Building & construction, Furniture & interior fittings, and Installation and packaging.

The building industry struggles with high building costs and a lack of professionally trained staff. To succeed in reducing costs and shortening lead times, one trend is for the production to become more industrial and standardized with pre-fabricated structural elements. For environmental and efficiency reasons, the building industry also needs to develop methods and materials which consume less raw material and less energy. Nowadays, buildings must also be energy-declared. Newbeam wants to offer interesting products to meet this development.

The concept of resource-saving or lean production (TPS) is based on systematic improvement and strives to furnish the customers with exactly what they want when they want it. The categories of spillage, waste or poor working environment are summarized in eight items.

  • Reduced work at the building site
  • Flexibility in assembly / final production
  • Materials that can be prepared for different installations
  • High quality – long material life
  • Minimal environmental impact
  • Low energy consumption
  • Low noise level (in assembly and in the finished building)
  • Health-friendly materials (production and operation)

Higher demands are now made on the energy consumption of buildings and, in this context, Newbeam can, through its favourable energy properties, contribute to complying with the legislative requirements. According to the latest requirements, the living area of a building must not in Sweden consume more than 130 kWh/m2 per annum north of the Dalälven (The Dal River) and 110 kWh/m2 per annum south of Dalälven. For other premises, a value of 100 kWh/m2 per annum applies over the whole country.

The furniture industry, like the building industry, has long traditions and has largely been based on small companies. The most important competitive factors in the business are quality, price and delivery time. One possibility for the furniture industries to assert themselves in the competition is to use resource-saving production techniques, which in turn strengthen them as qualified order-winners, when the price, delivery times, delivery precision and quality are important parameters for the end-customer.

Newbeam strives towards a resource-saving method of manufacture, but it also sees opportunities to help our different customer groups to develop and improve the same production principles.
